Gene L. Harding is an associate professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering Technology at Purdue University, where he has taught since 2003. He has three years of industrial experience with Agilent Technologies, 28 years of combined active and reserve service in the United States Air Force, holds an MSEE from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, and is a licensed professional engineer. He has coached FLL teams for 5 years in a highly competitive region, and has gone to the state tournament four of those years. Recently, his team placed second in the state out of 52 teams and qualified for the international tournament at Legoland, where his team placed third in the Robot Game out of 72 teams from all over the world.

It is difficult to say that I really liked the book because the subject matter is somewhat disturbing.I will say that "The Dating Game Killer" is a well written story about the life of Rodney Alcala and his unfortunate victims.If you are in the mood to be frightened then traveling into the mind of this sadistic sociopath will definitely satisfy.Not for the faint of heart.

I keep on reading until it finished. This story will make you feel uncomfortable, sad, frustrated, and angry. Many time I put book down and feel angry. It is uncomfortable reading even thought it is cruel. This guy is a very sick man; he think he is handsome, normal like anyone and intelligent but apparently dark side like underneath is a violent sociopath and a series of brutal murders. He know well that he is capable of killing for his sexual confused. I feel very sad for victims' family. I saw him on video of "Dating Game" in Sept. 13, 1978; kind of blurry because it is old. And now latest video of him in the court, he look ugly with gray and long stringy hair. Very ugly. Still he denial whatsoever since then. Even his mother and sisters stood up for him. They are blind bat.

I enjoyed this book immensely. It was well written and attention holding. It covers the subject matter very well. However, it had like 16 parts! With over 100 chapters total. I think there had to be a better way to divide the book up because having that many “Parts” was kind of jarring.

I downloaded this book a few days ago and finished it today.It was really good,The crimes were more brutal than most I have read about so,that was a bit hard to get through.I don't really like reading about the trials in TC books but this author kept it interesting so I liked that part as well. I like the who? Why? nature/nurture part of TC books so I would have liked her to go into his childhood and other life experiences more but all in all it was one of the better TC books. I am going to look for more books by this author right now.

Very well written and easy to follow.. For the strong stomach.. Sad to think there are actual people in our world that would even think to do such EVIL and Sadistic things much less do them.

This book started off promisingly enough, orienting the reader to the beginning of Rodney Alcala"s crime spree. Was his victim Tali S. raped, sodomized, and beaten and then left to slowly strangle his first victim? That's a tough one to answer because no one really knows about all the crimes Alcala is guilty of. While many violent assaults and murders have been attributed to Alcala, the true number may never be fully known.Alcala's story is a true one of unspeakable perversion and no regard for life. It is also a casebook study of how one can thwart the criminal justice system while tacking on offenses to a public record so muddied by heinous behavior that it is mind boggling to comprehend how one person could escape confinement.This is also a cautionary tale where identities are assumed and flaunted under the watchful eye of the police and FBI.It is a fascinating story, but also one muddied by the author who peppers her text with long descriptions of psychological disorders and how they distinguish as well as manifest themselves. The author also confuses the issue by looking at other crimes perpetrated by other known mass killers. I'm not sure if the author was being paid by page, but at times it felt like that when she'd move on another tangent that had nothing to do with the handiwork of Rodney Alcala.The truth is the Alcala's long history of violent crimes are enough to stand by themself. This is an interesting story that would have probably remained interesting without a lot of purposeless detours.I liked this book, but might have loved it if it didn't veer all over the crime landscape

Nice and small pocketbook. Very easy to carry around and easy to navigate within the book with the tabs. I still hate to write but it is helpful to have and they make it as easy as it can be looking up stuff with all the tabs in place.

Disappointing. Microsoft has certainly changed what it provides for study material. Will not purchase any more exam refs or study guides unless they return to previous format/content.

Microsoft's own books are mildly helpful. After passing 7 exams, I find TechNet/CBT/YouTube much more beneficial. These provide an outline of material but are NOT test prep.

Just needed it for a class i was taking.

Terrible book that does not go into enough detail.

Cannot recommend this book as a study guide, very little information.

For a "to-the-point" on what you need to know for the exam, the Exam Ref series is perfect for a check of your knowledge. I hate to give this book only 3 stars, but I think I have to! As much as I loved the story, I just felt like the book was watered down over all. When Heran gave details in the story, they were wonderful! Beautiful! I could picture the heron in the pond. I could imagine the sounds of the nightingale floor (perhaps my favorite part of the book!), but for me, these magical parts were few and far between. Much of the sword play and training were left to my imagination. Most of the bonding between the characters was also, sadly, left to my imagination. Then before I knew it I was 80% into the book and it got sooo good, then by 85% the climax was over! I feel like I read the outline or the rough draft of the true story. That some how the finished product is out there still waiting for me to read. Loved the book, yet disappointed at the same time...

I never read books twice but I did this one. I actually thought I was reading a different book about the same characters until I got into it and realized I had read it. I kept going because I just love the writing and the Nightingale floor and the musical house and gardens. Not a happy story by any means but an interesting and meaningful one--maybe in an odd way. Anyway, I would recommend it to fans of Shogun. Even though it has a little supernatural twist, it's not in a hokey way.

I had just started and was unable to finish a similar book in an imaginary China. This was superior. It is not, however, a classic, but a standard action hero novel with some inherited super-powers which come out with training and make him a powerful assassin, even in his youth. The descriptions of characters and scenery was better than usual. Some of the internal dialogue was very good. The characters were developed to the degree that they do not always act as you would expect and sometimes inconsistently, even the protagonist.The most important thing is that it was very readable (and I'm very picky and don't finish a lot of books). I look forward to the second installment.

Not for me. I found the story hard to get into and the writing style rather juvenile. Couldn't finish it. I normally like fiction, fantasy, and historical novels.

I love all books by Lian Hearn. This author could write cereal boxes and keep the reader entranced! The wording is always so descriptive yet always runs so smoothly and utterly effortless by Lian Hearn. I don't like violence so was kinda surprised that I love the Tales of the Otori. I thought about it and the fact that I just can't put any of those books down til I've read them cover to cover is because the author is a beautiful writer. You can smell the smells of the day and feel the feelings that the characters play. This author is my inspiration to try to write so well. Thank-you Lian Hearn for your talent and for your stories!

Entering the world (imagined) by Lian Hearn in Tales of the Otori: Across the Nightingale Floor is like being dropped into a beautiful and exquisitely harsh environment. For every moment of beauty there is brutality. Hearn's story takes us into the lives of 4 incredible people. Is it all by chance? Lord Shigeru rescues and cares for a young Takeo. Kaede Shirakawa toils in a distant castle where she is kept captive, even though she is equal to those she serves. Lady Maruyama, a queen of her domain. Their stories will envelop you in a land of great beauty, strife and machinations to achieve a better existence for all who live in this time. The trilogy is well worth the time if you enjoy crisp details, personal trials and warring factors in ancient lands.

I first read this book when I was much younger. I bought it in an underground mall on my way through Toronto with my mom. The lights were dark underground and their weren't that many people in the mask so it gave me a secretive feeling owning such a small book that could fit in my pocket.It's story that focused on quiet observation, secrecy and intrigue helped with that secretive air. The quiet intimacy of the story and it's matter of fact language had me giving up book after book of this series. The artwork on the cover too, a figure so still in the face of the tumultuous rain attracts the eye. I absolutely loved this book.Looking back it's story is rather simple but I'm still so happy to be rereading it.

Interesting read. It doesn't attempt to be historically accurate with the characters but the setting appears to be spot on to me. Character development was really good. The only thing keeping it from five stars was the fact that I personally feel the story could have been a bit shorter and the pace would have been perfect.
