About the Author

Born In Edinburgh, Scotland, and educated at the University there, like all British boys of his generation Tommy Armour left school to fight in the First World War. He joined the Royal Scots as a machine gunner and later became an officer in the then new branch of the service, the Tanks Corps. While serving with the tanks he was caught in a mustard gas attack and lost his eyesight, but later he regained sight in his right eye. The winner of many amateur golf events in Europe as well as the French Open, Armour came to the United States soon after the war ended and turned professional in 1925. In 1927 he won the U.S. Open Championship and the Canadian Open. Subsequently he went on to win every major championship: the British Open; the P.G.A.; the Western; the Metropolitan; and too many cash-prize tournaments to attempt to list. In 1929 he took over the post of golf professional at the Boca Raton Club, in Florida, where over the next quarter of a century his instruction ranged prom teaching duffers how to break 100 to brushing up the games of the top tournament professionals when they couldn't iron out their own difficulties. Armour always claimed that the instructional part of his golf career was the best -- the part he enjoyed the most.

Great read but it's a bit old school wordy. Once you get used to that, I found a lot of useful information that I was able to apply to my swing right away.In my opinion, the chapter on foot work alone is worth the price of the book.Considering this book was written in 1953 and the information is still relevant today tells Mr. Tommy Armour, was way ahead of his time. Or that there is not much new in golf instruction.I am very happy with my purchase and I would gladly do business with this seller again in the future.

Practical book written by Hall of Famer Tommy Armour in 1953. Used books in good condition are available for about $5.00. Armour writes about the same techniques and strategies he used in his golf lessons in Boca Raton, Florida during the '30's. He used great strategies playing competitive golf despite the handicap of only having sight in his right eye. In my opinion, this classic is the best golf book ever written.

By far the best book ever written for the occasional or average golfer. My dad gave me the hard cover version in 1960 and I've bought over 20 copies over the years for friends and family. The line drawings are better than any photograph for positioning of hands, feet, and clubs as well as swing action. Instructs by providing what you need to know and what you need to focus on, without any excess detail. Brilliant book that I refer back to every year.

Tommy Armour was probably the best one eyed golfer in history. He was a legend in his time, being elected the the Golf Hall of Fame. The book outlines golf course strategy, based on Tommy's lessons. Published in 1953, his techniques are just as valid today as they were when they were written. Guaranteed to improve your golf game.

I first read this book at the library and I knew after I read it that I had to buy it. I continue to read this book often. I bought one for a friend and he likes it. For some reason this book made more sense than any Golf Instructor I've ever heard. It's plain and simple English in black and white the way golf should be taught. Tommy Amour Sr. will remind you that we 're not Golf Pro's. I recommend this book for any Non Professional Golf enthusiast.

Covers all aspects of the game. Slap in the face really. Swing or hit.... it's all the same. It's based on your temperament and natural tendencies.The accompanying drawings are especially prudent.

Great golf book! I was on a 7 handicap (several years ago) and this book was virtually my 'bible' and helped me play a lot of good golf then. I unfortunately loaned it to someone and never got it back!. Thirty years on I was thrilled to see that it was still available.I prefer the figure drawings in this book, these are much easier to understand than looking at modern photograph 'frames' of golf shots which seem to be the norm for golf instruction today. A particularly easy to understand book for beginner golfers; Quick delivery too....thank you so much.

This book, origionally published in 1953, was bought to replace the book I first learned golf from. It is still a great read, and has many easy to understand fundamental hints that are absent in more recent material. Well worth the money.

To those who post dire warnings. Umm, no. Stop and read the book first, not just speculate on the premise and contents.Is it ethical to stop a crime? Yes. Is it ethical to turn your back on crimes against the earth and its sentient inhabitants? No.The book is a must have for any socially aware occultist.It's well written, easy to follow, and thoroughly researched.The book is a keeper.Thank you, Michael M Hughes.

You don't have to be a Witch to resist. However if you decide to do it magically Michael tells you how in this boldly written book with all bases covered. The first two chapters are devoted to the history of Magical Resistance! Against Hitler/Nazis. He has much info that was new to me. Like I said this book covers all bases. He explains why any body of any religion can do Magical Resistance. He explains "toolkit" for Magical Activism , the difference between Offensive & Defensive magic. He has prep rituals & breath work and other things to take care of yourself mentally & Psychically . He explains how to make a personal mojo bag and a "power oil" for your rituals. He has all the basics in here as well as Anti-Fascist spell, anti NRA spell etc. He ends with a full appendix! Wow! As others have said "this book is a keeper"Its also printed on good stock with a good font I read it in a day. Very good book highly recommended.

And this helped me understand what she's been doing. Some of her books are very flaky. This one is right on target. Interesting stories from the hippie days and other good times. We've fought this before, and we can do it again.

The depth of research and knowledge that Mr. Hughes has poured into this book is amazing. The historical anecdotes are truly spot on and very entertaining. I had no idea people tried to levitate the pentagon in the 60s! A very entertaining read and a must have resource if you want to practice resistance magic.

Found this group at its inception, so was happy to support the author and founder.Book is clearly laid out and easy to follow: it's nice to have back story and foundation material for what we've been doing since Mad King 45 has soiled the honorable office.But more importantly, connects us intent on stopping the terror that has overtaken American democracy and restraining all those willfully engaged in harming not just USA, but all the world.So Mote It Be!

This is a super helpful and crucial resource for modern witches who are also politically active. This is definitely a favorite that I will be using again and again. Recommended HIGHLY.

Michael M. Hughes covers the basics, plus some history, and offers practical advice for binding spells. I enjoyed this book and want to see it become part of the cannon. In this case cannonball to derail some really wicked people. But that's just me.

If you are struggling with the current political climate and feel you are drowning in helplessness this book (and movement) is a port in the storm. It gives you tools for resistance in a way that also help you become self aware and part of the natural earth energy towards unity. While some may not believe in magic, there is magic in bringing people together for a common good. That's what this book/movement does.

As an clinician and researcher of "asthma" (and the many, many things that cause it), I am pleased to say this is the first book I have found that accurately depicts its complexities. Even more impressively, it does so in an easy-to-read manner that makes it useful to all perspectives - patients, their loved ones, and clinicians. Dr. Hunt has done an excellent job with "Your Child's Asthma".

If you have a child with asthma, or know a child with asthma, you will want to buy and READ this book. Dr. Hunt painstakingly breaks down every aspect of asthma into terms that are easily understood. While reading it, you will have many “ah-ha” moments. When you have finished reading it, you will feel empowered. This book is more than a reference book…it is more like a map that will guide you from point A to point B and beyond, leading you to work with your child’s asthma specialist to develop the best treatment for YOUR child. I look forward to sharing it with the patients and families I work with, as well as with my colleagues.

Dr. Hunt is a master communicator and any student of medial history will concur that the words of Sir William Osler apply to this author. Osler said that a good doctor would be available, affable and able and Dr. Hunt synthesizes those sentiments in his writing - it is intellectually available, kind-spirited in nature and accurate to a tee. But one should not be surprised for this complete clinician has, in all his writings demonstrated an uncanny ability to cut through the clutter to focus on what is important. Asthma is a dreadful disease for anyone to bear, but for a parent to see their child suffer is insufferable and this book is a balm for that concern. I heartily endorse this book as a physician, father and with friends whose kids are asthmatics. Well done Dr. Hunt.....and keep on writing!

While I do not personally struggle with asthma, as a clinician I have struggled with communicating the complexities of this "physiologic disturbance" to parents. Dr. Hunt's masterful command of the English language and simplicity in explanations is powerful not only to parents, but clinicians as well. Bravo - This 30 chapter book is a easy read and can be used as a quick reference refresher for parents - which is no easy task.

As a parent of a three year old, I was fortunate to receive an early copy of this book. Its an easy read, yet it’s not dumbed down at all.There is so much I had never learned about coughing and wheezing and asthma. Asthma makes a lot more sense now.

"Asthma is not a diagnosis." These are some of the most refreshing words I've ever read written by a physician.I grew up an asthmatic child, so severe that I was falsely diagnosed with CF, while I actually was wrestling with asthma, compounded by pneumonia, and living in an allergen laden environment. When we moved out of that moldy house, my symptoms disappeared. I haven't used an inhaler since. It's clear to me not that the home environment put my system on high alert. Absent those conditions, I'm as healthy as can be.Asthma is not a diagnosis. Read this book.

Brilliant mind, and unengaging writing. Hard to plow through this classic of queer theory, but, I'm told, it's worth it.

Reading it seems dated now but it's such a classic, anyone interested in gender studies should have a copy of this book... even though it's almost impossible to read. The cover has a pleasing rubbery/matte finish too.

I did not give this book 5 stars because (1) often I found Butler not clearly expressing her own ideas and opinions as opposed to weaving too much into the accounts she gave of others and (2) her position is not clearly cognizant of its own premises. Specifically, Butler is taking to task the issue of the subject, subject-object dualism, and issues of power. However, her work presumes that only one theory of the subject is possible, that it requires subject-object dualism--which she rejects--and her theory of power is unclear and messy. She wants to get rid of the idea of a "SUBJECT" and leave room for agency, in the possibilities that exist between the different ways people are constructed through different knowledges. Yet, the way she gets rid of the subject entails that nothing exists to be free, to have agency. IMHO this analysis needs more subtlety here.It also needs to be clear about how the rejection of modern subjectivity goes hand in hand with the rejection of subject-object dualism. Do other forms of subjectivity--or more importantly agency--exist outside of subject-object dualism.In short she does not question the presumptions of the Nietzschean-Foucaltian genealogy. Thus, she leaves herself open to legitimate attacks.Is the book worth reading--YES! Butler's analysis raises great questions and challenges for traditional approaches to subjectivity. Yet, the limitations are very strong because they presume too much.

This is one of the most important texts that I have ever read. Life changer. Butler's writing is simultaneously complex, rigorous, and accessible.

This book is very dense and difficult to get through. However, if you stick with it, you'll be glad you did! Butler presents very compelling arguments about gender, sexuality, and gender construction/performance, that will definitely alter the way you think about gender.

Good book

Butler is of course incredibly thoughtful and intelligent, and an important read for anyone interested in gender theory/performativity/feminist studies. However, this particular edition had an annoying number of typos; I'm not sure if it was proofread.

Great ideas but very hard to follow. The writing style is one that I don't care for.

Clear, well organized and an easy read, this book is an excellent introduction to Japan's native religion. Sections are a well organized range starting form the history of Shinto, to its mythological roots, and its rituals to its place in the last century. Despite this berth of subject matter the book occasionally feels as if the author is hiding behind his works cited rather than forming original conclusions. Though disappointing at first this is understandable if we read the author's short biography on the final pages. Kallen having written more than 150 works for young readers is obviously an expert in writing youth oriented non-fiction, NOT an expert in Shinto. This fact worried me slightly, because one does not known how far to trust the particulars of the work. However for projects and quick and concise reference, particularly for a basic grounding in the concepts of Shinto it is an excellent reference. This book has no pretensions of being academia's bench mark reference for Shinto, but it is an excellent start for those of us who don't have a degree in East Asian Studies. A must have for any school library.

This is between a 3 and 4 for me. I've only finished the first of this 4 book set and did enjoy the story line and world building. There is however, an immaturity to the writing style, a simplified melodrama overall that is somewhat off putting. Aspects of the characters that I wanted more development on were brushed aside. For example the 4 year old daughter of the heroine Cara, has the vocabulary and conversation level of a 12 year old child. Accepting her dialogue as a 4 year old wasn't possible. Cara walks into a room and can instantly see the smallest details of eye color from 10 feet away. The hero would rip her clothes to shreds one minute and in the cabin scene, she picks them off the floor and puts them back on. Despite this being a fantasy romance/erotic book, I needed more reality and believable writing where the characters are concerned to fully immerse myself in the book. I felt as if the author was trying to add depth to the small moments between characters but it fell short. The relationship between the couple was very instalove with a dominant, "Me man, you my woman!", alpha vibe. Cara accepts this very quickly with little to no protest. I can live with this dynamic but a little more sexual tension and longing in the beginning wouldn't hurt. I was frustrated with how little Cara protested his manhandling of her and even when she did try to speak up for herself, the constant discussion of the state of her panties was was over the top.

Rebecca Zanetti had always been one of my favorite writers/authors, well before I started writing reviews for any books. Her Maverick Montana Series is one of my all-time favorites that I’ve visited innumerable times!Paranormal for me was an iffy genre, which thanks to Cynthia Eden, have lost myself hook, line and sinker! The first two stories of this set Fated (Dark Protectors Book 1), are Cara Paulsen and Talen Karys's story, and Claimed (Dark Protectors Book 2), Emma Paulsen and King of the Realm, Dage Karys's story. Both are worthy of no less than four ★'s. I loved how Ms. Zanetti hogtied me to the plot(s) of these two sisters of enhanced abilities within the first paragraph. No kidding.The third story Tempted (Dark Protectors) is a 90 page novella worthy of three ✮'s . It's fast paced and loaded with drama and insta-love. It's over right when the gettin' gets good. But, it's a novella so I expected nothing less.The fourth story Hunted (Dark Protectors Book 3) was Conn Karys and Moira Dunnes story and mostly about paranormal politics and war strategy with various battles mixed in. The story would take one step forward and two or three back and it became tiresome. It's conveyed extremely well so I'd rate it four ✮'s for that reason alone. But the romance part of the story was secondary and because of that, it became boring and I didn't think I'd ever finish it.All the stories are about Vampires, Witches, Demons and Shifters. The characters are well described making connection instantaneous. Ms. Zanetti paints a fearsome picture of the bad guys...The Kurjans, (who kidnap human women with enhanced abilities to either mate with or experiment on). The Kurjans have an evil agenda of taking over the world. Their evil intent really caused my anxiety to spike. Awesome! The good guys are Vampires called "The Protectors" of the Sanguisuga race and war is imminent between them and the evil disgusting Kurjans. In the middle of all this, biochemical warfare is plotted. A deadly virus has been released by the Kurjans and some of the mates of the good guys have been infected. So, there's a lot going on. Love relationships are worked through in the midst of all the drama and excitement and the bow-chukka-bow-wow is good and steamy without overpowering the plot(s). I loved all these vampire brothers (Dage, Talen, Conn, Kane and Jase). I mean, for crying out loud! They're almost 7 foot tall testosterone menaces. The heat was pretty great.What I didn't like was how the author reiterated strategic points of interest each time a new character was introduced. Sometimes this is good and reestablishes what's going on in the midst of all the controversy. But it became too much and I felt like I was rereading the same thing over and over. I liked how the romance aspect of each story was concluded at the end of the story, but the war/biochemical problem wasn't. You have to read the second..nope, wait, third? Nope...I read four books and I'm still wondering what happens and who wins. So, it's a partial cliff hanger. There's several typo's and misspelled words, but nothing that detracts from the meaning of the sentence structure. There are a few holes and loose threads (why didn't King Dage tell Emma about her scientist friend dying?) There are situations of intelligent women acting stupid or making out of character, senseless decisions. But the characters are impressively good, especially the Alpha Vampires. The storyline is addicting and exciting. Adult language is low. Analogies, descriptions and details are vividly conveyed. I'm just not sure if I want to continue reading if the story isn't concluded after four books.
